Competition Head Package

The D3 Competition Head Package showcases the epitome of our engineering capabilities. Our heads have been blueprinted and designed utilizing the latest flow technologies which ensures consistent precision machined heads again and again.

D3 Headpackages flow like none other rivaling that of the highest end European and Italian constructors, and can be seen the world over competing in various levels of motorsport & racing.


Included in the competition head packages are the following key features:

1. Intake ports are ported to create maximum velocity then rough cross hatched to provide better fuel atomization, which increases combustion efficiency providing increased power both at low and high rpm.
2. Exhaust ports are ported to drop internal pressure quickly, yet provide enough velocity to scavenge well, insuring a full fresh fuel and air charge will be delivered to the combustion chambers, not diluted down with left over spent gases from the last firing.
3. Head surface is milled then hand lapped to create a multi-directional micro Finish surface, thus leaving hundreds of micro ridges to be crushed down by the steel gasket forming a super micro barrier for better gasket sealing.
4. Intake to head ports are purposely mismatched or stepped to fight unwanted reverberation when flowing  near supersonic speeds and helps to reduce boundary layer effects improving port flow.
5. Valve seats utilizing 3 angles and so called 5 angle, as well as many other valve and seat combinations.
6. Valve guides the modified valve guide is helpful and will promote increased flow while still maintaining excellent valve control.
7. Valve springs all D3 performance camshafts are designed to operate to extreme rpm on stock valve springs, we spent countless hours designing and developing profiles which will control the valve float or spring bind.
8. Camshafts D3 performance cams should be used with all D3 head packages, all cams are ground to precise tolerances.

D3 Shortblock

The D3 Competition Short Blocks are designed to be the ultimate competition motors.  Its fully Blueprinted build features Forged Pistons, Billet Rods, a Forged Crankshaft and a Honed Deck Surface. Special provisions can be made for both Naturally Aspirated or Boosted applications.

The D3 Competition Short Block provides up to 454 cubic inches of reliable raw power.  A dry sleeve system replaces the OEM cast iron sleeves with high strength iron sleeves, these sleeves are made of iron that is 3x stronger than cast iron and are both thicker and longer than their OEM counterparts.  This allows for up to a 4.125” stroke and a 4.185” bore.

Each build is blueprinted and built to the same standards as our 1500+ HP Competition Motors and only utilize the highest quality components.  Our assembly procedures are meticulous which showcases the ultimate pinnacle of our motor building craftsmanship.  The end result is an ultra-precise build.

D3 Crate Motors are competition built full motors that require little to no core parts. They have been built utilizing state of the art precision machinery as well as assembly by our highly trained and often overly particular staff.

Each D3 Competition Crate Motor is hand built from start to finish by a single technician that ensures 100% precision when assembling your motor.
