The D3 Air Inlet hood is used on pinnacle D3 builds such as the ULTRA-V and D3 Dragster because it allows the highest amount of fresh air to cycle into the engine compartment. 
The D3 Air Inlet Hood has been designed to allow for fresh air to enter the engine compartment thus lowering the under hood air ambient temperature.  It also features a raised design allowing for the clearance of the D3 ULTRACHARGER kits.

The Legionnaire to showcase the new Viper Smart Start Alarm System at CES 2012

 Signal Hill CA, January 10, 2012, the Legionnaire by D3 to debut Directed Electronics new Viper Smart Start System at CES Show in Las Vegas, NV.

The D3 Group’s Legionnaire will start 2012 off at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV January 10-13, 2012. D3 will be partnering with Directed Electronics maker of the Viper Smart Start System.

The Legionnaire will be equipped with Directed Electronics Viper Smart Start Alarm System and be featured in their booth # 1514 located in the North Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Viper Smart Start System integrates with your iPhone, Blackberry or Android device to provide remote start, lock/arm and unlock/disarm, panic or car finder, as well as GPS and Home Control of your home’s security system.

“We are very excited to use the Viper Smart Start System because it gives us the ability to utilize the latest in vehicle security and remote start technology without compromising the factory Cadillac vehicle systems.” says James Gill, Director of Product and Brand Development for the D3 Group. “In a vehicle as advanced as the Cadillac CTS-V we needed a system that could meet and exceed the demands of a quality remote start system, the Viper Smart Start System provides exactly what we need.”

The Viper Smart System is designed to work with iPhone, Blackberry and Android Smart Phones. The system installed on the Legionnaire is the Viper 5704 Responder LC3 2-way Security and Remote Start System, along with Smart Start GPS. Also, featured will be the Viper SmartStartBT which will be announced at CES and expected to release at the end of the 1st Quarter of 2012. The system also has optional new features this year including SmartPark, Viper Motor Club and Smart Alerts. The SmartPark remembers where you parked your car everytime you lock the doors, as well as, provides directions back to your car. The Viper Motor Club provides free 24/7/365 roadside assistance with all Smart Secures Service Plans. And the Smart Alerts provides customers with a text message to their smart phone if their alarm triggers. The Viper Smart System provides protection to you and your car right to your smart phone.

The Legionnaire is a special edition vehicle built on the GM Sigma II Platform better known as the 2012 CTS-V Coupe. The Legionnaire features the D3 Stage 2 ULTRACHARGER system, D3 competition powertrain, D3 competition suspension package and complete D3/Borla ø3 inch exhaust system.  D3 has also teamed with Recaro to fit the vehicle with custom designed functional true race seats that have been styled to match the OEM Cadillac interior. This purpose built vehicle is designed to showcase the potential of alternative fuel sources that can provide for a more “green” impact on fossil fuel resources. The Legionnaire has achieved equal horsepower output in both E85 Flex Fuel and Pump Gas mode.

The Legionnaire looks forward to the race season in 2012, using the top technology this vehicle will be tough to catch on the track.

The D3 Dragster represents the pinnacle of straight line performance au naturel (ie no nitros) available for the CTS-V. We have opted to keep the factory 6.2L displacement to showcase the capability of the stock-sized CTS-V. Furthermore to keep with the OEM nature of the dragster we have opted to keep all of the interior components intact.

The D3 Ventilated Motorsport Hood replaces the OEM CTS-V hood with a ligher (nearly 8 lbs) carbon fiber hood. The Ventilated Hood is designed to extract heat allowing for cooler underhood temperatures. Additionally the hood is also designed to clear the largest blowers available including the 4.2L ULTRACHARGER kit.
